WHAT IS BOTOX® FOR CHRONIC MIGRAINE?
As a purified protein used to relax muscles, Botox® has been shown to significantly improve the quality of life for patients suffering from chronic migraines. Botox treatment for migraines is approved by both the FDA and Health Canada to prevent chronic migraines in adults who experience severe headaches 15 or more days per month.
If you suffer from chronic migraines, Botox® may be an effective preventive treatment option. However, it must be administered by a highly experienced professional.
HOW DOES BOTOX® FOR CHRONIC MIGRAINE WORK?
For chronic migraines, Botox® is administered through a series of small injections using a fine needle into specific muscles of the head and neck that are believed to contribute to migraine symptoms.
No anesthesia is needed for Botox® treatments, as there is very little discomfort. Relief may begin within a few days, and full improvement is typically seen within two weeks. Treatments must be repeated at regular three-month intervals to maintain results.
