What is it?

Hand rejuvenation refers to aesthetic procedures aimed at restoring the youthful appearance of aging hands. Over time, hands may show signs of aging such as volume loss, wrinkles, brown spots, or prominent veins. These changes are often caused by a combination of internal and environmental factors, including aging, sun exposure, and collagen loss.

Causes of Hand Aging

  1. Volume loss
With age, collagen and elastin production decreases, leading to thinner skin. This causes volume loss in the hands, making veins and tendons more visible.
  2. Sun exposure (photoaging)
Repeated sun exposure without proper protection is one of the main causes of premature hand aging. UV rays accelerate collagen breakdown, resulting in brown spots, wrinkles, and skin laxity.
  3. Skin dehydration
The skin on the hands is thinner and more fragile than on other parts of the body, making it more prone to dehydration. Dry skin can accentuate wrinkles and increase vulnerability to aging signs.
  4. Hormonal changes
Hormonal fluctuations, especially during menopause, can affect skin elasticity, leading to volume loss and pigmentation spots.
  5. Repetitive movements
Frequent hand use for work or daily tasks can accentuate wrinkles and contribute to visible aging.

How to Prevent Hand Aging

  1. Regular sun protection
Apply sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) on the hands daily, even in winter. Wearing gloves in winter and applying sunscreen outdoors protects against UV damage.
  2. Consistent hydration
Use moisturizers regularly, especially after washing hands. Creams with vitamin E or hyaluronic acid are particularly effective.
  3. Gentle exfoliation
Exfoliate once or twice a week to remove dead skin cells and promote renewal. Use gentle scrubs or creams with alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA) to improve skin texture.
  4. Anti-aging hand care
Apply anti-aging creams specifically formulated for the hands with ingredients like retinol, vitamin C, or peptides to stimulate collagen production and reduce signs of aging.
  5. Protection from chemicals
Wear gloves when handling household cleaners or harsh chemicals to protect the skin from irritation and accelerated aging.

How to Treat Hand Aging

  1. Biostimulatory fillers – RADIESSE
Radiesse helps restore lost volume, reduce the visibility of veins and tendons, and give hands a plumper, more youthful look.
  2. Chemical peels
Gentle peels (glycolic acid, TCA, etc.) stimulate cell renewal, even skin tone, reduce brown spots, and improve texture.
  3. Fractional laser FRAX 1500
Fractional laser treatments like FRAX 1500 target pigmentation and laxity by boosting collagen and evening skin texture.
  4. Intense Pulsed Light (BBL – IPL)
IPL helps treat hyperpigmentation by targeting pigmented areas, evening skin tone.
  5. Microneedling DP4
Microneedling (collagen induction therapy) stimulates collagen, improving skin texture, reducing wrinkles, and fading pigmentation spots.
