WHAT ARE VASCULAR LASER TREATMENTS?

Vascular laser treatments are effective for eliminating spider veins, superficial blood vessels, broken capillaries, superficial telangiectasias, and other vascular lesions commonly found around the nose, eyes, cheeks, and lips.

These treatments are often combined with Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) for managing rosacea and are sometimes recommended alongside or as an alternative to sclerotherapy for treating leg veins.

HOW DO VASCULAR LASER TREATMENTS WORK?

Before a vascular laser treatment, the skin is cleansed and a cooling gel is applied.

Light energy targeting visible blood vessels is delivered to the skin via a handheld device. The vessels absorb the light energy, become damaged, and are then naturally eliminated by the body without harming surrounding tissue.

The treatment is quick, generally well tolerated, with a brief tingling sensation that can be eased with cold compresses. After the session, temporary redness, mild swelling, or bruising may occur, and treated vessels gradually change color (whitish, brownish, or bluish) over several days to weeks.

Smaller vessels can often be removed with a single treatment, while larger or more persistent vessels may require multiple sessions. Sun exposure should be avoided before and immediately after treatments. Daily use of SPF 45 sunscreen is recommended.

WHAT ARE PERIORBITAL VEINS?

Periorbital veins play an essential role and are usually invisible. However, in some cases, they become visibly pronounced under the skin, which can be bothersome for patients. They appear as bluish lines 1 to 3 mm wide, giving the eyes a tired and aged look.

HOW ARE PERIORBITAL VEINS TREATED?

Vascular laser treatments are the most common and effective method for reducing visible veins around the eyes that cause bluish or purplish discoloration.

Dr. Rowen personally performs these treatments in this very delicate area, using the advanced Nd:YAG vascular laser — a proven technology for vascular lesions.

Every treatment is fully customized. During your consultation, Dr. Rowen will assess the underlying condition and recommend a tailored plan to achieve the most natural and safe results.
